Surgery Support

Kamath Foundation is committed to the well-being of every common man irrespective of economic status, race, and religious background, with the main focus areas being health and education.

Under its flagship Cancer Surgery Support Programme, Kamath Foundation, with its extensive outreach programme, has successfully reached out to underprivileged sections of society in need of cancer surgeries. The foundation helps arrange quick, effective, and valuable treatments on time. The support to beneficiary families goes beyond financial assistance, providing a swift response and timely intervention as a last-mile funder. The objective of the programme is to arrange subsidised surgeries for various types of cancers to ensure positive health outcomes.

Kamath Foundation has propagated its helpline number (7057070928) to key stakeholders, including Community Development Officers, Doctors, Health Workers, Medical Officers, Anganwadi-Sevika. Upon identifying underprivileged backgrounds who need hospitalization and surgery support, they are referred to the Kamath helpline, which acts as a guidance and counselling centre. Kamath Foundation conducts due diligence to verify the economic background of the family, the medical history of the person in need, and the prescribed line of treatment and cost, helping to collect funds for cancer surgeries.

Need For the Programme

The National Health Profile (2017), published by the Central Bureau of Health Intelligence, and states that about a quarter of all rural households and one in five urban families in India are forced into debt or the sale of assets to meet hospitalisation costs. There is a significant gap between the demand and supply of secondary and tertiary Public Healthcare. More than 95% of these deaths can be prevented with access to good healthcare. It is therefore imperative to provide the poor with access to quality healthcare. The Pew Research Centre, using World Bank data, has estimated that the poor population in India has more than doubled to 134 million from 60 million in just a year due to the pandemic-induced recession.

Objectives

Kamath Foundation’s Cancer Surgery Support Programme seeks to connect with people from disadvantaged sections of society with public and private healthcare providers to offer them affordable, timely, and quality healthcare.

To save a human life through timely medical intervention.

Economically weak families who need life-saving surgeries and therapy.

By providing financial aid for surgeries and therapies.
